Food Court Dispute Over Seating Escalates Into Food Fight, Woman Taken To Hospital

A disagreement over seating arrangements at a Singapore hawker centre reportedly spiralled into a food fight, leaving one woman hospitalised after experiencing breathing difficulties.

The incident took place at Haig Road Market & Food Centre on the morning of 3 June at around 10.10am.

According to reports, what began as a verbal disagreement between two diners quickly escalated, with food and drinks allegedly being thrown during the confrontation.

Witnesses described the incident as a minor dispute that rapidly got out of hand, drawing attention from nearby stallholders and customers.

Argument Allegedly Started Over Shared Table

The husband of one of the individuals involved told reporters that his wife had purchased a bowl of porridge and was searching for a place to sit while keeping an eye on their nearby stall.

He claimed that she sat at a table where another man was already seated, which allegedly upset him and triggered an argument.

At the time, the husband said he was taking a short break nearby when his wife called him to inform him that she had become involved in a dispute.

When he rushed over, he allegedly witnessed the man preparing to throw something at his wife before stopping upon seeing him approach.

The husband further claimed that porridge had already been thrown during the altercation.

Witness Says Both Parties Threw Food And Drinks

However, a drinks stall owner who witnessed the incident described the situation somewhat differently.

According to the witness, the woman had been moving in and out of the hawker centre repeatedly while monitoring her stall, which allegedly irritated the man sitting nearby.

The disagreement then escalated into a heated exchange.

The witness claimed that both individuals subsequently began throwing food and beverages at each other, including the porridge that had been purchased earlier.

Photos circulating online later showed spilled food and drinks around the affected seating area.

Woman Admitted To Hospital Following Incident

The husband said his wife suffers from asthma and became severely distressed following the confrontation.

According to him, the emotional shock triggered breathing difficulties that required medical attention.

The woman was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

The witness also revealed that he contacted the police after seeing the husband become increasingly agitated and fearing the situation could escalate into a physical fight.

Police And SCDF Responded To Scene

Both the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that they received reports regarding the incident.

Authorities also confirmed that one individual was conveyed to hospital.

At the time of reporting, no further details regarding potential offences or enforcement action had been disclosed.

The incident has since attracted attention online, with many netizens expressing disbelief that a dispute over seating arrangements at a hawker centre could escalate into a food fight and result in a hospital admission.

While investigations continue, the case serves as a reminder of how quickly minor disagreements in public places can escalate when emotions take over.

Farm animals will turn on each other when living in overcrowded conditions. Why does the PAP insist on packing us like sardines in a can?

Even HCs are not an atas place, what happened to the times when one can eat peacefully without intrusion or invasion of privacy?
Worse there are people who just plong down on your table without asking whether the seats are taken and make assumption.
Problem again of infrastructure strained with aliens and the NEA simply bo chup and increased stalls but not enough tables.

Are they vaxtards? If yes, just another business as usual as mentioned many times before.

Just watch out for the next one
