S'pore govt policies are to blame for soaring inflation

A more elegant solution is to attain Swiss standard of living cost with Bengali service quality
Goh Chok Tong did keep part of his promise since an estimated 20% of S'poreans are enjoying the Swiss standard of living.

Imagine the frustration that younger S'poreans carry around like an overcharged credit card kept in our wallet. Slogging full-time 9 to 5 no longer guarantees them the same milestones that once defined middle-class success. Upgrading to a condo and buying a car, raising 2 children or building up enough savings feels considerably more difficult than it did for their parents.

The S'porean Dream is starting to feel less like a finish line and more like one of those casino games rigged enough to keep gamblers throwing more money to recoup their earlier losses.

The S'porean Dream for young graduates embarking on their careers now, is far more difficult than for the Baby Boomers. The milestones they are trying reach aren't postponed by laziness or a lack of ambition from the current young PMETs. They just got priced out of reach by the ruling party that 65% of S'poreans voted for.

Singapore Dream is strictly reserve for top 10% only

Since there are no paratroopers on display this year, let's hope the heavens give a good shower of blessing this year (already had a mild one last year, which was rare)

When there are very limited supply of goods / services on the table, it is ONLY fair when market price discovery mechanism is used to “right” prices its value to willingly customer who are willing to pay $$$$$ w/o price distortion mah :)

GCE A Level Econ

I know where you are coming from. Since the supply of cars is strictly limited, the govt uses the bidding system i.e. price discovery, to let the market determine the price. Those who want a car the most - and have the means - pay the premium. Unfortunately, up to 90% of S'poreans do not possess the means to pay more than $100,000 for that piece of paper, but want or need that car really badly. Therein lies the unhappiness, and their anger is directed towards the govt and the 10% who can afford that overpriced COE.

Even Condo / Fishball Noodles / Michelin 1-star eatery all are also in price discovery mode on this tiny island

What the island has to offer is simply diminishing

Cars are reserved for the Top 10% of income earners in S'pore. That makes car ownership even more attractive for those who can afford it.
