Politicians require votes to attain and maintain power. Delivering tangible benefits to citizens is the primary mechanism for securing public support, winning elections and ensuring political survival. However, the S'pore govt's policies repeatedly disadvantage its citizens, favour foreigners and lead to the cost of living shooting up continuously. Wealthy PAP politicians with business ties or broad investments rely on a strong tax base, educated workforce and stable consumer markets to protect and grow their assets. The PAP is not in the least bit interested in serving the people. They are in Parliament to serve their own interests.

Hullo. Your vote don't count and is not taken into consideration in gomen policy. Only the elites get what they want and they don't bother to vote. It's the same in the US.

The PAP has made S'pore a playground for wealthy expats, tourists and new citizens. S'poreans have been priced out in terms of private residences and cars, and will soon be mostly working in blue collar jobs to service the elites. Our local PMETs have become PHV and taxi drivers, and soon, our women will become domestic workers i.e. maids. S'poreans will soon be like many Malaysian university graduates who can only find work as service staff in shopping malls, as factory workers, bus drivers, security guards etc.

It is disgusting when you consider that the monthly salary of the average S'porean worker may be earned in 2-3 hours by a PAP Minister.

It is not easy to get rich and quick as some presumes. It takes a lot of courage and biz acumen to accumulate wealth and prosperity.

Some whom developed such traits DO HONESTLY get rich at young age, of at least a comfortable early retirement to ponder upon more than wealth alone, such as social stability as they know from experiences HARD LEARNED, such wealth accumulated can only come from a 2 way street communication - I take the risks, you help me with guaranteed monthly salary and CPF, in good times or bad, and prosper TOGETHER.

Some learn such experiences at older ages, but ultimately, realities are that in our World, there are courageous risk takers whom became successful and uplifted lives, and risk takers whom are only fools, whom let down hard working workers and supporters....

Often, it is those whom had PROVEN their successes in life, either as an entrepreneur or a proven successful manager or team leader with an already high income and savings, would volunteer to help uplift others in one's society thru political hardships, as they are not fortune tellers by way of the democratic vote, even sacrificing their precious time which they could had EARNED MORE in private practice, with their hardwork, intelligence and diligence......

Thus, it is NOT true on what the threadstarter had claimed, as this is SINGAPORE, based upon meritocracy, openess, and democracy with its trusted institutions for checks and balances......

They must be clever if they are rich. U should be thank full clever people are in charge.
