One woman and two men in their 30s were caught by the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) in an alleged case of "khalwat" or close proximity on Mar. 3.
According to Sinar Harian, the woman told the authority that she was feeling unwell and wanted to rest.
Enforcement officers had raided a two-storey terrace house in Bandar Dato' Onn at 12pm following a public tip-off.
JAINJ officers conducted checks in two bedrooms before finding three individuals in the second room.
They discovered one man sleeping shirtless on a single mattress, wearing only shorts.
Two other people were allegedly spotted lying next to each other on a queen-sized mattress nearby.
Among them was a man who woke up upon noticing the enforcement officers, shirtless and wearing only long pants.
Officers later discovered that beside him was a woman who had covered herself under the blanket beside him.
Early investigations found that the three people were not married or related to each other.
The men were colleagues in their 30s, while the woman was a divorcee.
Officers found the bed and sheets in a "messy" condition.
When questioned by enforcement officers, the woman said she was unwell and needed to rest at the house.
Investigations revealed that the woman and the man found in the same bed had been together for a long time and frequently visited the house together.
The couple was subsequently detained for alleged close proximity.
