TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — At least nine people were wounded in a knife attack in Taiwan’s capital Taipei, local broadcasters reported Friday.

A suspect threw smoke grenades at the Taipei Main subway station near the city’s main train station, according to the reports.


The suspect then rode the subway one stop, exited the station and threw more smoke grenades on the street before pulling out a knife and stabbing passersby, according to footage carried by broadcaster EBC.

Images show the suspect running inside a department store. One person was found unresponsive at the scene, local media reported.

Police have yet to make any public statements about the attack.

TAIPEI - Several people had been injured after people released smoke bombs at two subway stations in Taipei and then attacked bystanders.

President Lai Ching-te said the attacks took place at Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan Station.

In a Facebook post on Dec 19, Mr Lai urged the public to remain calm if they are at train stations or other crowded places, and advised them to follow instructions from on-site law enforcement.

He also advised people to immediately report any suspicious situations to police or station staff.

An attacker was suspected ‌to have killed himself after the attack, the official Central News Agency said.

It was not ‍immediately clear what the motive was. REUTERS

Try to avoid taking the mrt for the next few months.
Spf can demonstrate counter terrorism exercise, but they do it with non moving targets.
In a real attack, no amount of anti terrorism exercise can help to migitate the risk.
