All five of outlets are now listed as permanently closed on Google Maps.
Singapore massage and foot reflexology parlour Wan Yang Health Product and Food Reflexology Centre (Wan Yang) has reportedly ceased operations at all of its five outlets.
Notices posted at outlets
A photo shared with Mothership showed a notice pasted up by Wan Yang outside one of its outlets, which stated:"This company has ceased operations effective immediately and will commence formal liquidation proceedings.
For any outstanding matters, please contact the liquidators who will be appointed in due course."
Additionally, Mothership's attempts to access the company website through a link on its Facebook page led to an unrelated site, and calls to all five outlets went unanswered.
A check on Google Maps also revealed that all five of Wan Yang's outlets are now listed as permanently closed.
Some customers left with unused prepaid packages
Several customers were caught off-guard by the sudden closure.According to a Reddit user, his family had just purchased a new package for three persons worth S$7,000 for 70 sessions over the weekend of Nov. 15 to 16.
Staff at the Thomson Plaza outlet had also scheduled them for an appointment on Nov. 22, but the shop was shuttered when they arrived.
The user added that when he reached out to the management at Thomson Plaza, they were unaware of what happened and stated the shop was still operating as per normal on Nov. 20.
Another Mothership reader, who wanted to be known only as BT, said that his father, who has been patronising Wan Yang for more than a decade, also still has an active package with the chain.
He said the closure left his father "shocked and confused" as he had been visiting Wan Yang weekly.
He added that the closure was especially surprising as none of the customers were informed. His father, who had an appointment scheduled for Nov. 23, only learnt about it through a friend.
"I trusted this company," said BT's father.
Mothership has reached out to Wan Yang and Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) for further comment."The government should take action against the owners, as they were still instructing staff to sell new packages even though they planned to shut down operations.
Many of the staff have worked there for a long time, and I’m worried they may not receive their last month’s salary."
