A father and daughter pair, who had not been seen for about a month, were found dead in their Sengkang Housing Development Board (HDB) flat on Monday, Oct. 6.
According to
Shin Min Daily News, the discovery of their bodies occurred at around 1pm at a unit on the eighth floor of Block 324D Sengkang East Way.
The man's body was found in a bedroom, while his daughter's body was discovered near the main door in the living room.
Discovery made after bodily fluids leaked from ceiling
Shin Min reported that police officers cordoned off parts of corridor, and several officers were seen stationed outside the flat.
The discovery was made after a resident in the unit directly below the deceased persons' flat noticed a foul smell and liquid leaking from her ceiling.

The resident's son, surnamed Zeng (transliteration), told
Shin Min that he received a call from his 70-year-old mother at around 6am on Oct. 6, informing him about the liquid and smell.
When he arrived later that morning at around 9am, he helped to clean the liquid up with his bare hands using tissue paper.
"The red liquid was sticky and smelled really bad," Zeng said.
He said he went to work afterward, but when he called his mother again later in the day, she told him that the smell was getting worse.
"The more I thought about it, the more I felt like something wasn't right, so I decided to call the police."
His mother has since moved out and will stay with him temporarily while cleaning arrangements are made.

Neighbours said the pair kept to themselves
A neighbour, a 51-year-old woman surnamed He (transliteration), told
Shin Min that a family of three had originally lived in the unit where the bodies were found.

However, she had stopped seeing the older female resident in around 2017 and assumed that she had either passed away or moved out.
She said that since then, only the father and daughter had lived there and that the pair rarely spoke to neighbours.
She added that the father was quiet and always wore shorts, a mask and a cap when he was out, and that she would always see him returning home with two packets of rice.
"I greeted him before, but he ignored me," she said. "The last time I saw him was around July, and the last time I saw his daughter was during Chinese New Year."
Another neighbour, 69-year-old Jia Lan (transliteration), said that the pair kept to themselves and that he last saw them at the end of August.
He described the father as healthy, but said the daughter was believed to have a mental health condition.

He added that when the police arrived, they asked him if he had heard any arguments or disturbances from the unit, but both him and his wife had not heard anything.
Daughter's behaviour noticed by neighbours
Neighbours also told
Shin Min that the daughter was sometimes seen talking and laughing to herself, and often avoided being seen by others in the lift.
One of the residents said: "I remember once when I was working from home, she saw me open my door and quickly ran away."
Jia Lan added that the daughter would clap and sing in front of the elevator, and that he had seen her wandering aimlessly across the street several times.
He said the father and daughter never caused any disturbance in the estate otherwise.
Neighbours had noticed the foul smell weeks earlier
Shin Min reported that several neighbours had detected a smell since about a month ago.

A 75-year-old neighbour, surnamed Ceng (transliteration), said she had noticed an odour resembling balacan (fermented shrimp paste) lately, and that authorities had visited a few weeks ago to inquire about it.
Another resident, who lived on the 10th floor, said that the smell had become noticeably stronger in the past few days, prompting her to keep her doors and windows shut.
Jia Lan added that he had received a flyer from the authorities last month, asking if he had smelled anything unusual.
