There's only one non-negotiable agenda - and that is the eventual reunification of Taiwan with the mainland. So its military buildup is targeted at pre-empting any attempt by the US to start a war using Taiwan as a proxy. So you're right in one respect: US will not invade China directly. It is stirring shit in China's backyard: arming Taiwan and Philippines, financing protests in HK, training and supporting separatist terrorists in Xinjiang, remilitarising Japan.
The real warmonger is the US, who is responsible for all the mess in the Middle East and Latin America. And Trump is still harboring hopes of annexing Canada, Greenland and Mexico by hook or crook. Ukraine is a proxy war; Poland may be next.

The DF-41 is Mach 25 (30,000 km/h). DF-61 is Mach 55, purportedly (68,000km/hr).
Earth's circumference is 40,000km. Half of that would be 20,000km. So a Mach 55 hypersonic missile flying the great circle route would be able to reach any target in the world (<20,000km) in under 18 min. So Victor wasn't exaggerating.
