The GLCs - Nothing but paper tigers !

The much vaunted GLCs, they have no caliber to face competition.

Despite so many years of nurturing them by giving them monopol rights, business protection, billions poured into them, ace elite scholars alloed to run them as thier own fiefdoms, paying them million dollar salaries, what have these GLCs shown ?

At the slightest advent of competition, they crumble.

Examples: SIA vs Air Asia, PSA vs Tg Palepas.

There are many more lesser known examples.

The fact is, this business model of the government is a complete failure.

It has just kept breeding and spawning fat cat mandarins that is spawning even more paper tiger GLCs, at the expense of tax payer
money and free enterprise.

Govs don't generate wealth.

It is the private sector that generates the wealth and the Gov takes part of that wealth away thro taxes to spend it for the good of the nation such as defence, education,healthcare and infrastructure.

The moment they start thinking that they are also in the business of making money is when trouble starts.
