Under an agreement with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA), Grab will operate 11 WeRide vehicles on two designated routes in the Singaporean neighbourhood. This small autonomous shuttle fleet will be made up of two WeRide minibuses: the five-seater GXR and the eight-seater Robobus.

Both vehicles have undergone Singapore’s Milestone 1 (M1) assessment, which tests vehicles’ ability to operate on public roads in “autonomous mode” in line with Singapore’s traffic rules. They will be the first autonomous vehicles to attain this certification for use in Punggol, and it will also be the first time that the GXR has been deployed in Southeast Asia.
A GLC gonna work for money not give people job.

These are scums who can’t get a meaningful job anyways. Now got chance let them have a car to drive around no need go under hot sun become labourers is already a godsend.

Similar to those scum food delivery before that gig they were also doing dispatch and courier. Same same
What is a meaningful job?
As long as don't steal, cheat or kill for living, any job will do. Only difference is some jobs don't need high education & wasting taxpayers money when they got retrenched. Once the highly educated got to move lower, there is a mismatch. There will be tension, society will blow. For no tertiary cert, the grab, phv....Can be their meaningful job & likely not so for the tertiary cert holders.

The PAP's strategy to invite ultra rich foreigners to set up family offices in SG, then fast tracking them to citizenship, has resulted in these people buying up freehold land. This drives up prices for homes across the board, as those who previously could afford landed homes turn to condos. Those who can no longer upgrade, will buy HDB flats while those who could afford 5-room units before, downgrade to 4-room and so on. Rental also shoots up, and for businesses, these increased costs are passed onto consumers.
In the end the land owners aka govt earns the most

In the present society .. there are many unemployed people ownself no job but still they look down others having jobs be it low or high income ..

The smarter ones change their industry & start all over again even for lower wages than previous jobs

The stupid jobless ones will wait for their ideal high salary to come .. 1 year 2 years and going 3 years liao that so called professional job never come & their cash savings had almost depleted :frown:

Actually unemployed doesn't mean his value or capabilities have gone down. He just has no opening of jobs for him. If given a choice, I don't think anyone will choose a lower pay with same responsibilities & job scope. Some can accept lower pay for a while knowing his previous lifestyle will change. Unfortunately the next job comes, HR usually offers the lower one & not his previous higher one unless his skillset is sought after in the market.

The article below was drafted in reaction to this report on ChannelNewsAsia: "Flexibility, being your own boss, decent income: Why younger people are working as private hire drivers."

There are some people who are against the trade of private hire for this reason: they think it kills an individual’s employability and retirement adequacy.

Devadas Krishnadas posted the following on his LinkedIn page: “These jobs (referring to gigs such as private hire driving) have no professional value. Even plying the roads consumes vast amounts of energy… yet these drivers refer to themselves as their own bosses.

“In truth, the real beneficiaries are the ride hailing companies all gunning for blockbuster IPO listings. Drivers constitute a free labour force for which they have no responsibility or liability.”

“While a number of drivers drive on a short term basis, for an increasing number it is becoming a long term proposition. As time passes and they continue driving their employability get eroded.”

Devadas thinks that drivers are being made used of. That long-term exposure to gigs, such as private hire driving, would reduce their employability and eventually see them completely being wiped out when technologies such as driverless cars replace them.

What nonsense.
PHV driving does nothing like PAP killing an individual’s employability and retirement adequacy.
