Singapore does not have the numbers to make a difference.
A country that has more than 50 million people can potentially become significant in world stage, provided it has all the attributes. Top 1% of its population are the ones that made the difference.
50 million (1%) = 500,000 persons.
3.5 million ( 1% Sinkie) = 35,000 persons.
All the smart people either become politicians or head of companies. There is not much left for entrepreneurs. Besides, they need good engineers, technicians, accountant etc to make it work.
So to become a great country you will need
- 50 million
- high average IQ
- good governance
examples are : USA, UK, Germany, France, Russia, Japan, S Korea, China, Italy
Examples of some countries who cannot make it even though they have some of the attributes :
- Nigeria ( low IQ, bad governance )
- North Korea ( less than 50 million people)
- Philippines, Indonesia and Many African countries as well South Asian Countries ( low IQ, bad governance )
- Middle eastern and south Americas also face the same problem.
- There are a few countries that have potential but not sure what went wrong like Argentina, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam ...
