In the late 80s and early 90s, there used to be swimwear fashion shows at the lounge there, where models in swimsuits or bikinis will parade around exposing their cleavages and butt cheeks for all customers to see. That was one of my regular hangouts with my kakis.

A video of an Indonesian police armoured vehicle running over a Gojek rider at a protest has caused an uproar on social media.

The incident occurred on Aug. 28 when police were dispersing protesters, according to Tempo.

Violent antigovernment protests against a range of cost-of-living issues have roiled Indonesia, and anger boiled over after the killing of a motorcycle taxi driver who was hit by a police vehicle during a demonstration in the capital, Jakarta.

In a recorded video address on Friday, President Prabowo Subianto called for calm and asked the people to “trust the government and my leadership”.

Yet, protesters pelted the headquarters of the police mobile brigade and set fire to a five-storey building near the police compound in the Kwitang neighbourhood of central Jakarta.

For the Hotel Miramar Singapore, a separate entity, the largest shareholder is an eponymous company controlled by individuals with the surname Lim.

For Miramar Hotel and Investment Company, Limited (Hong Kong):

• Henderson Land Development Company Limited: is the controlling shareholder, holding 50.08% of the shares as of early 2025.
• Wing Cheong Chong: is another significant shareholder, with 9.973% of the shares.

For Hotel Miramar Singapore:

• Lim Tjhun Seng, an eponymous company, is the largest shareholder.
• This company is controlled by two low-profile individuals named Lim.
