Trump has proposed escalating tariffs on pharmaceutical imports, starting with a "small tariff" and gradually increasing to 150%, then eventually 250% within 12–18 months, proposed a 100% tariff on all imported chips
Steel, Aluminum, and Copper: Existing tariffs were raised to 50%, with additional duties on semi-finished copper products

Trump's tariffs are changing by the day. No matter what agreement you think you got, it's overridden the very next day with new tariff list. No point discussing with US on trade.

How many companies will Shut their factories in South East Asia and start new bases in the US? Is a more appropriate remark.
You're another MAGA simpleton who thinks re-industrialisation is easy peasy. Pharmaceutical plants involve high end processes. The quality control alone is complex and takes a few years to tune right. And I'm not even going into the logistics chain yet.

How can businesses draw up long or mid term strategic plans? Everyone is just holding out till 2028 when the next clown comes into power

Trump doesn't care. Either you announce immediate plant construction in the US or face the tariff brunt.

That's what I said early on when trump announce these tariffs in April. But in TSMC' s case, they had to as china invasion possibility causing long term Instability.

1. The insignificant nobody me concerns are more about Pharmaceuticals, as it is such that drives even an intern to assist on low pay basis to LEARN from the best, and to the RESEARCHERS, whom had sacrifices hours, years and efforts to make a pharmaceutical product to work, as well as the Company and Investors whom believed in them and placed their hard earned life savings on their stocks.

They DO have a right to benefit from such sacrifices.....

2. Thus, it is NOT morally right that some greedy enterprising Bizman STEALS the hard work and sacrifices from others to create GENERIC drugs, and worse, benefit SOLELY from another's emphatic hard work to save lives and another's misery in pain and suffering which could be resolved without bankrupting oneself and loved ones.....

3.
At least PrezTrump had instituted gradual phases on tariffs on such necessary life saving medicines and technology, on a see and watch approach to ensure that ALL whom wishes to save lives, are NOT taken advantage of by greedy others....

.Ultimately, in order to save lives, perhaps any intellectual discoveries RIGHTS made can have shorter time limits, so that both the patent holder/company can at the least earn back their investments morally, even if based on a banking fixed deposit savings rate of 5% a year, as well as so that other intelligent generic medicine researchers may have a free opportunity to BUILD UPON KNOWLEDGE TO BETTER such medicines to ELEVATE Scientific knowledge, save lives and Humankind's evolution.......

One reason why Tsmc can dominate the semicon fab industry was scale. They had priced out other fabricators through economies of scale. And then scaling up to higher end stuff becomes easier.

The US chip ban is effectively killing this advantage. Doesn't matter where they move to.

After Steve Jobs, America's only hope left of industrialisation was Elon Musk's tech projects. Now that both of them have fallen out, that dream is shattered.

Really dunno what Trump's advisors are whispering into his ear

When Chinese manufacturers produce on a massive scale, they are classified as oversupply(suspected due to state subsidies) by the Western and US politicians, potentially leading to the demise of their domestic manufacturers.

Crybabies crying. Export subsidy is a common practice by many countries. US do it to push their digital services worldwide and European countries do it with their wines, cognac etc.
