SINGAPORE: A driver who caused the death of a female pillion rider during a racing game that went awry was jailed for five years and eight months on Friday (Jun 27).

While driving along the East Coast Parkway (ECP) expressway in February 2024, Jarrett Tee Lee Kiat engaged in "blocking and braking games" with a motorcyclist, clocking speeds of up to 160kmh. The 30-year-old deliberately swerved into the path of the motorcycle, forcing the rider to slow down.

Ah Tee knows how to play the games and kill human beings on this island without much consequences .... just kill anyone on this island with a COE paid CAR and you probably just need to pay some fine$ for it .... he may consider next time to make "PAP Minister fly" on video to be a top influencer on various apps too :whistling:

A 23-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to hospital unconscious following an accident at Tuas Checkpointon Friday afternoon (June 28).

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said the motorcycle is believed to have skidded along 501 Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim at about 3.25pm. The man was conveyed to the National University Hospital for treatment.

Another individual was also assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to hospital. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Even though drivers have a duty of care towards bikers, many of them ride w/o a care for their own life, weaving in and out of traffic, riding between lanes and not signalling when switching lanes. My greatest nightmare is switching lanes along expressways, then seeing a motorbike appear out of behind another car w/o signalling or caring that they are so vulnerable.

SINGAPORE - A 41-year-old cyclist who was taken to the hospital after an accident with a car in Bugis on the morning of June 19 has died.

The Straits Times first reported about the accident on June 19. The cyclist died the next day, according to the police.

The police said they were alerted to the accident at Victoria Street towards Kallang Road at 6.30am that day.

In video footage of the accident uploaded on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, a cyclist can be seen riding across one side of the junction. He appears to be going against a red traffic light.

As he crosses the middle of the junction, a car comes into the frame, and the ensuing collision sends him flying off his bicycle.

The traffic light for the car changes from yellow to red just before the point of impact.

The cyclist was taken unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later died, said the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

A 44-year-old male car driver is assisting with police investigations.

The problem with car sharing apps is that anyone can be the actual driver. The hirer only needs to show his valid licence to book the car.

The High Court has published its grounds of decision for dismissing Jeremiah Ng's appeal against his seven-year jail sentence for killing one person and injuring six others in a violent crash along Tampines Avenue 1 in December 2021.

The 36-year-old had gone out with this brother and two friends that night (23 December) and consumed four cans of beer before driving back from dinner. Ng reportedly hit speeds as high as 169kmh in his brother's red Mercedes-Benz during the journey. He lost control of the vehicle as he approached the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Avenue 10, smashing into a centre divider and crashing into traffic.

"It is plainly foolish and hazardous to drive in this manner on any occasion. Our public roads are not a racetrack," said the High Court in its dismissal of Ng's appeal.

A private-hire car driver was killed in the crash. Six others were injured – including a motorcyclist who was left with long-term disabilities.

Ng was sentenced in October 2023 after pleading guilty to one count of drink driving and another for causing death by driving in a dangerous manner.

There are too many non-car owners who seldom drive, so lack practice and are unfamiliar with road conditions in SG when using a rental car. Many are also distracted by their phones while on the move.
