Mercenaries work for the money, so in times of war, they will pack up and leave to live another day overseas.

SINGAPORE – Macquarie Group’s asset management arm is considering selling its 50 per cent stake in a petrochemical storage terminal in Singapore’s Jurong Island, according to people familiar with the matter.

Macquarie Asset Management is working with a financial adviser on the potential disposal of the stake in Advario Singapore Chemical, which may attract interest from infrastructure-focused funds and industry players, the people said. A stake sale could fetch several hundred million dollars, the people said.

Sale considerations are at a preliminary stage and no final decisions have been made, they added.

A representative for Macquarie declined to comment, while Advario did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.

Advario Singapore Chemical is a joint venture between Macquarie and Rotterdam-based liquid storage logistics firm Advario BV. The terminal has about 409,000 cubic m storage capacity and more than 80 tanks, according to a presentation on Advario’s website. It handles products including clean petroleum, gases, lubricants and petrochemicals, and offers services such as cooling and heating, blending, pipeline connection tank-to-tank transfer, truck and vessel loading and unloading.

A potential deal for Advario Singapore Chemical would follow other recent ones in Singapore. In September, Advario said it took full control of Advario Helios Singapore, acquiring the remaining stake in the terminal from Macquarie Helios Holdings. The facility has 503,000 cubic m of storage capacity for a range of fuels and industrial gases. BLOOMBERG

Industry eyes are watching cargo exported from sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 plant over its onward shipment plans.

Russia is sending a second Arc7 liquefied natural gas carrier through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) as the first ship of the summer sea that preceded it emerges from the Arctic passage and heads to Asia.

The Vladimir Voronin departed from Novatek’s Yamal LNG plant with a cargo on 29 June and on Thursday was shown heading through the Kara Sea, Upstream's sister title TradeWindsreported.

SEOUL, July 1 (UPI) -- South Korea is exploring the potential of the Arctic shipping routes, particularly the Northern Sea Route, which is expected to reduce shipping times and costs between Asia and Europe.

The state-run Busan Port Authority noted Tuesday that it has established a dedicated team to prepare for the commercial use of the Arctic route.

The newly structured team is projected to lead the strategic development of Arctic route initiatives and oversee related policies from planning to implementation, according to the BPA.

"To address pressing challenges of Busan Port, including the Arctic Sea Route, a swift and flexible execution-oriented organization is essential," BPA President Song Sang-Keun said in a statement.

The measure is in line with the policy direction of new President Lee Jae Myung.

New government figures highlight the critical role the Arctic plays in Russia’s economy. Projects along the main shipping corridor may generate massive tax revenues over the next decade and account for growing share of the country’s export and GDP.

Despite recent delays large-scale Arctic projects will remain a key driver of Russia’s economy in the future, new government data show.

The Russian government expects resource development in the region to contribute in excess of $160bn in tax revenue to the federal budget over the next decade to 2035.

Western sanctions have halted or slowed down a number of projects along the Northern Sea Route – namely Arctic LNG 2 and Vostok Oil – but existing projects including Yamal LNG and the Arctic Gate oil terminal already provide substantial revenues.

And major Russian businesses Novatek, Gazprom, Rosneft, Norils Nickel, and Lukoil all appear poised to continue their push into the Arctic.

A key region for Russia’s GDP

The region already contributes significantly to Russia’s Gross domestic product (GDP) and exports. In 2024 the Arctic generated 11 percent of exports and accounted for 7.5 percent of the country’s GDP. Those figures are likely to increase in the coming years.

our young samsters have future or no future all thank to their parents, uncles and aunties that have pathed the path for them to hell .... :whistling:

CAT A Coe hits $100,000 (again)
The 8% of residents who own cars in S'pore also hate paying the govt over $100,000 for a piece of paper, but it is difficult to put a price on comfort and convenience. For a person who earns $200,000 - $300,000 annually, setting aside $10,000 per year over 10 years is sill justifiable. In the end, it boils down to affordability; even a person who yearns for a car, but cannot afford the total price (car, COE, road tax, maintenance etc.) won't be able to buy that comfort and convenience.

COE is COE. The real financial burden for owning a car: insurance, parking, maintenance, fuel, and the occasional fines if you're unlucky enough to be targeted for fulfilling their quota.

I guess you didn't notice when I wrote that the total price (car, COE, road tax, maintenance etc.) would put a car beyond reach of most Sinkies.

Many even now went into CS after graduation were only given contract job. Sitting inside has NC with master or PhD (not sure ivy league). New graduate sinkies even w honour upp got to report to these NCs (ATs) using sinkies for their work & get credit. How can these graduates move up?
