THE USA has become so corrupt. This guy can't even string a sentence together in his responses.. Has absolutely no idea about the the area he is being posted to. I suspect he has some friends in high places or made some donation to Trump or some favours he did for some people and he is getting his pay back. . Definitely looks like cronyism at play here.

He may had been caught unprepared for questions.
1. In such a situation, it is best be honest and admit that he does not have immediate answers to questions, as he is not a know-it-all. No mortal is. He should had just told the Senator that if he was given the questions in advance, he would had been better prepared to give qualified answers, being the Representative of the Trump Administration in Singapore and a diplomat, and not a salesman whom would bluster and wing it along the way.
2. He should had admitted that he SUPPORTED the 10% tariff because:-
a) Due to the recent Nvidia chips issue whereby a trading firm in Singapore bought such chips and sent it China for the DeepSeek AI ventures. For sure, it was not the Singapore govt's fault, but a loophole exists. It may had been an isolated case, but prevention is better than cure.
b)His role is to assuage the concerns of the President of the current Administration voted in, and thus the 10% tariff is but only a negotiation start and opened to discussions and assistance from US, to ensure that the Singapore govt and ally stays vigilant to prevent such loopholes and being made used of by others.
