Following the world, including repeated UN GA resolutions, Camp David treaties, Obama, Abbas - recognised the right of the Palestinians to have their own independent state along the pre-1967 borders. But to this day Israel has defied every single resolution and steadfastly denied the Palestinians their own state while conitinuing enlarging Jewish territories on Occupied Territories.

It is an eye for an eye as far as retribution is concerned. The lDF is warning other enemies besides Hamas, that they will pay an extremely heavy price for any future acts of aggression against Israel; in their eyes, the IDF is protecting themselves from future attacks.

Because Gaza and West Bank right from the beginning was agreed to be Palestinian land. Sinai was taken from Egypt and returned to Egypt.

Jesus preached love and forgiveness, but the Church and the entire Christian empire did the opposite: internecine wars, conquests, Crusades, witch hunts, inquisitions (all the Sephardi Jews had to flee to the Levant from Spain), pogroms, sacking and pillaging cities wherever the armies went. And then 500 years of violent colonization of practically the entire world by Christian nations - Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, German, French, Brit. Christians have killed more people in the past 1,000 years than the other religions combined.

What's my point? Don't judge a religion by the acts of their followers. All religions have been corrupted and distorted by their clergy and followers over the centuries. Religion has always been used as an excuse for warfare, for oppressing the people, for persecution of minorities.

The Christian nations have moved on, mostly... they learned that peace and co-operation between nations gave mutual wealth and prosperity. The Muslim nations and many of their followers by and large are still stuck in the Middle Ages. Maybe in 500 years Islam will truly be a religion of peace.

BTW, there are many fundamentalist Christians out there who still believe the ancient church doctrine that the earth is flat and the sun revolves round the earth. But they're a teeny minority.
