Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxi service to launch in Singapore, Malaysia end-2025 – driverless taxis soon?

Baidu is working on launching its Apollo Go robotaxi service in Singapore and Malaysia by end-2025, with sources close to the matter telling Singapore’s The Independent that the Chinese tech giant is in talks with local taxi operators and mobility service providers to tailor a business model for both nations.
The company is adopting what it calls an “asset-light” strategy – prioritising partnerships over direct fleet ownership. Since its China launch in 2019, Apollo Go has clocked more than 11 million rides (beating Google Waymo‘s 10 million) in over 1,000 autonomous vehicles. Tesla just last month launched its Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, using 10 Model Ys.
Baidu is also looking at Europe and the Middle East for its driverless taxis; it’s reportedly talking with Swiss Post subsidiary PostAuto to launch Apollo Go in Switzerland, and exploring a Turkish entry.
