His 16-match stint with the Lions comprises five wins, three draws and eight losses.

Two of those victories came in the last two matches, when Singapore beat Maldives in a friendly and Bangladesh in an Asian Cup qualifier.

In February 2024, Ogura replaced compatriot Takayuki Nishigaya, who was sacked after a string of dismal results. Former J-League player Nishigaya lasted less than two years on the job.

Before that, Tatsuma Yoshida helmed the team from 2019 to 2021.

A coach can only do so much to improve the squad if he does not have quality players at his disposal. As such, he is only as good as his last game in charge. Ogura realises that he may be only one bad result away from losing his job so he decided to leave on his own terms.
he was told to resign.

A good coach without good players is like asking Lewis Hamilton to drive a Toyota Camry to compete in F1 race.
toyota camry is a nascar mainstay and favorite among the best and most successtul pro nascar drivers.

Hard to find ….
Roberto Di Matteo was the coach of Chelsea, when they won both the FA Cup and Champions League title in 2012 with world class players at his disposal. However, he found no more success as coach at other clubs like Schalke 04 and Aston Villa where he did not have the enormous budget to recruit the best footballers. Di Matteo does not seem to have found a coaching job since.

We should hire benitez
Rafa Benitez showed at Everton that he can only succeed as a coach of a club with a huge budget. Let's face the fact that a coach can only do so much with the quality of players he has at his disposal. Wealthy clubs can afford world class footballers; the smaller clubs simply cannot attract such talents over.
