Tiananmen was real. Back then, I was a schooling kid but everyone around me was following it closely.

Teacher talked about it everyday in class during the protest. It was the first time in my life that my local TV channels aired special reports in unearthly hours to report the situation. We all thought that we were witnessing history and China was going to change.

It was the first time that following timely updates were possible on screen, other than radios.

In 2011, three secret cables from the United States embassy in Beijing agreed there was no bloodshed inside Tiananmen Square. Instead, they said Chinese soldiers opened fire on protesters outside the square as they fought their way from the west towards the centre. A Chilean diplomat who had been positioned next to a Red Cross station inside the square told his US counterparts that he did not observe any mass firing of weapons into the crowds in the square itself, although sporadic gunfire was heard. He said that most of the troops who entered the square were armed only with anti-riot gear.

PLA means army of the people, won't fire a single bullet at any student. No tank was mobilized into the square. No soldier was killed.
