That means you would be a fool to place more than 20k there, more than that, the bank goes leg up, you looses all your legs!..you get only maybe, 20K...so, place all you money uder your bed... ha ha ha ha

But as with all metals, we can only assume that supply is diminishing and that there's no new technology impact which will affect that e.g. deep ocean mining becomes commercially viable, and supply increases manifold.

Recall aluminium was more expensive than gold at a time until they discovered a new extraction method, plunging its price overnite. Trivia: the Washington Memorial is topped off with aluminium, not gold, because at that time, aluminium was a precious metal more expensive than gold.
