Three people, including a child, were killed and two others injured in a rare residential shooting in Thailand's southern Narathiwat province, according to Thai police reports on Saturday.

The attack occurred in Tak Bai district when an unidentified gunman opened fire in a residential area. Authorities believe the suspect is linked to an insurgent group operating in the region.

A police manhunt is currently underway to track down the perpetrator.

The southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala have long struggled with separatist violence. While attacks on security forces are relatively common in the region, assaults on civilians in residential areas remain unusual and have sparked renewed concern.

The motive behind the attack has not yet been confirmed. Thai officials have urged the public to remain vigilant as investigations continue.

Two areas of high intensity in South East Asia outside of Myanmar.
Mslay areas in South Thailand and Sulu areas in Philippines.
The South Thailand separatist already peaceful before thaksin came to power. He re-ignited the rebellions as the police shot peaceful protestors and later killed unarmed male outside the mosque by crushing them I sure the transport lorry where many died of suffocation. Why thaksin police chief did this is beyond belief. Should ask him yourself.

Because he just disguises his nick as a Malay. If you read most of his posts carefully, you'll realize that he has always been siding with China and Russia.
