Hougang, Aljunied, and Sengkang voters

I have my reservations about this Harpreet. I like his eloquence and the way he presents himself (clean shaven, silver fox look). But he comes across as arrogant, impatient, too serious, and is full of himself. I was speaking with my kakis, and one of them said Harpreet looks to be very ambitious, could challenge Pritam for sec gen position in time to come.
I prefer Andre Low, Michael Thng, and the other younger candidates.

Unlike tenacious people in Workers' Party, and though I support and respect them, I am a coward and loser. I concede. I choose to run away from this island. There is nothing much for me to want to cherish here. Progressively, PAP will import more and more foreigners, and there wouldn't be a difference to let's say living in a foreign country for me. And definitely, what's the point of defending this country for those PAP elites and their families. They get the most benefits from jobs to investments thru their connections. They talked about meritocracy but don't walk the talk.

Not everything is bad though about Singapore. For me, the pedestrian walkways are the best in the world. No where can you find almost 100% tapered slopes for bicycles and people on wheelchairs. Of course, safety too. Other than that, everything else is expensive from food, transport, housing etc.

So better work towards getting out of here ASAP. Just leave a property here for rental income and capital appreciation. Come back for medical (use medisave) and visit friends and relatives.
You're not a coward or loser, you've just had enough of the Singapore GE Shit Show. You know when to cut your loses. I am too old to move away, else I would've moved to Queenstown, NZ. I understand a certain forummer lives somewhere in NZ.

I see what you mean, statistically won't pump up vote share. Anyway, SG is still stuck and not making headway. Hoping that when my life ends on earth, I can see 1/3 opposition. But tonight, I feel that it will be a bridge too far.
I am disappointed that based on the results of this General Elections, it appears that during my life time, I will not see the opposition win at least one-third of the seats, to deny the PAP of a two-thirds majority. The PAP will continue to make amendments to the Constitition to suit its agenda.

I think they will now be more confident to pass a bill to increase all their already exorbitant salaries...won't be surprised...

No individual is too old.
I left more than forty years ago, and unlike most of my schoolmates, I missed out on the golden money making decades in the 1980s and 1990s of Singapore, and not financially wealthy.

I have said before that SG is like commie China, except we have this rah rah show called elections. Just so we can still claim to be a democracy.

I do too. They are young, energetic, enthusiastic, and very bright. WP really lucked out this time. Hope they'll stick around and fight again.
In addition, they are eloquent, and speak English with a pleasant neutral accent.
Too many of the PAP politicians speak unpleasant English.

I have always maintained since day 1 that "Unelectable" Opposition like Goh Meng Seng, Han Hui Hui etc should go kill themselves instead of taking part in GE. These clowns created the so-called PAP landslide and skew the voting landscape significantly for PAP.
Those individuals should retire from politics.

My roots are too deeply entrenched here. Family and friends are here, my life has always been here except for the few years abroad as a student and then graduate student. I am sure you have more valuable assets than money. Being financially comfortable is enough for a meaningful life.

My most valuable assets are my wife, and four good looking, diligent, independent, motivated, socially conscious and responsible children.
I have been fortunate that God is amongst us, and is able to pay for all their university education, including post graduate.
God has been very kind with His Blessings.
I am not as financially wealthy as many of my schoolmates, but just comfortable.
Free Medicare in Canada, until this day, is dependable and reliable.

By all accounts, you made the right choice moving away. You have a great family and I am genuinely happy for you. You're blessed to have all that you have, a good and happy life. And you are not wanting for anything, that's the best part.

Thank you.
We are Blessed, and I consider that I am fortunate.
When I came here, I know of no one.
Two suit cases with several suits, two pairs of shoes, and about $1,500.00, on a one way ticket.
