Sales of byd seal and Tesla Model 3 already outstrip mercedes c class and BMW 3 series in Jiu hu. But that's probably because there are no taxes nor tariffs currently for EV's.

But chinese already can self drive leh..based on Baidu software. If good enough for tobo taxi should be good enough for trucks

The problem with the Baidu self driving system is that it requires Lidar and a mapped environment. On the other hand Tesla says they are going to make everything work purely using vision.

Let's see whether can Tesla can pull it off.

The range of a diesel car isn't that much greater. 100 miles more or so.

The moment a new state if the art battery emerges, it will completely make current EV's redundant.
If EV's are bought, it works well in urban areas and if it's a second car and owner owns a landed property.

i’m (still) waiting for the 699 to 1000-mile ev that is fully equipped with solid state batteries. no 50-50 solid state and lithium. went to san luis obispo (slo) last week in a tesla s and had to stop twice for an hour each for recharging. recharging stations were out of the way thus had to detour and go sextra miles just to find them. each hour of stop meant we had to find cafes or eateries to sit down, minum makan and wait which meant more unnecessary money and time spent. worse was that these cafes and eateries are fast food joints serving the worst meals by illegal migrant zombies at remote godforsaken pit stops with zero scenery. just dust, pollution and traffic noise. and the ugliest latina faces with short fat bodies. no joy i tell you. if i’ve driven my porsche i would have reached slo in 3.69 hours without refueling. to make matters worst, the airbnb house had no ev recharging point at the driveway. and none in pismo beach nor avila nor morro bay on next day’s drive. had to go back on 101 to find a supercharging station at madona inn to recharge to 69%. ended up makaning a piece of black forest cake costing $16.9. ccb.

Extended range EV's. These are EV's equipped with petrol generators. In the case of byd, it can go 2000 km on a full tank and full charge.

Li motors can go 800-1000 km and was told its sales in China has gone ballistic.

It's Not like Toyota hybrid which uses electric motor to push the ICE engine when required.
It's actually a EV with a ICE generator. So you dont really worry about charging stations anymore.
Mitsubishi Outlander phev is even More complicated. I still cannot figure it's system out as it like having both ICE and EV in same car

may as well carry a transportable gasoline powered generator in an ev trunk. can camp with it. takes up space too.
