Many of these newer MRT stations are nothing more than glorified underpass network systems. That's why the overhead bridges nearby were demolished during the stations' construction.

Each project must be very profitable. Think of the cabling, ventilation, aircon, lighting for all the underground tunnels. Then lifts, escalators, travellators etc.

Rebuilding new tracks with china steel and workmanship? Bangla? Good luck

if you read the zaobao news this morning, you read SMRT CEO pointing finger at LTA for not supporting SMRT's want to phase out 35 year old train. So, LTA aka CB Tart must answer in parliment why his LTA is slow in the upgrading program?
KNN, even SIA don't have 35 year old plane, SAF also don't have. Does SBS has 35 year old bus?
why SMRT have?

CB Tart....please answer.

It's a track problem, not a train problem.

If maintained properly and with refurbishments, a train can be used for many decades.

something dropped from the lao pok train and damaged the track. So its the lao pok train that started the chain of actions.

35 years old trains shouldn't be in use anymore, even if proper maintenance have been administered. Their frames and structures will be subjected to fatique at such an age, especially when the trains are operated at more than 18 hours/day and under heavy loads, especially during peak hours.

The trains on the London Piccadilly Line are mostly antiques. Yet, they're running fine.
