I think LKY made a huge mistake when he implemented this "pegging salary to top earners in industry" in order to so called "attract high caliber" people to join the government and to "prevent" corruption. Now money is the only reason they are in government. And even when they leave, they are given cushy directorship/chairman jobs so that they can keep milking one and all for money.
