A private hospital reported someone admitted due to traffic accident.

  • Car hit school bus or school bus hit car, I am not sure.
  • Bus driver, late 30s, had minor injuries but want 'private settlement' and went to private hospital.
  • There was some commotions with A&E duty doctor over the contents of the memo about his injuries.
  • Hospital people told me that guy claimed to be a care-taker onboard, his father was the driver (about 70 years old) and completely uninjured. School bus was apparently speeding.
  • Incident happened in June, bus was likely without students.
Ok, there's the fishy part.
  • He was the person injured and gave vivid descriptions while his father (claimed-driver) had no inputs. Doctor got suspicious and worded the memo carefully, he buay song and wanted to the doctor to write that he got injured "when vehicle was moving" not "when driving".
  • It was June holidays, realDonaldTrump assumed that the bus had no students on board, otherwise parents would complain. Then why was a care-taker required on board?
  • If he was doing something wrong, going to private hospital was the right thing to do, because they would not report accidents to Traffic Police or MOM by default. This is why some employers paid out of their own pockets and admitted workers with minor workplace injuries to private hospitals.
We suspected the school bus driver had no vocational bus license or not qualified to drive school bus in Singapore (eg. suspension).

Teachers and volunteer parents should check the vocational bus license of the school bus drivers. Eg. school security guards should verify the ID and licenses regularly.

Just my gut feel that there are school bus operators employing foreign or unlicensed drivers for our schools. It is well-known fact that school bus operators frequently make donations to schools to enjoy monopoly over the business. MOE should regulate this industry for safety of the kids.

Once again, the source of the problem cannot also be its solution. Who regulates the so-called 'regulators'? Look how they dealt with that Ridout Road incident. :cool:

For those who can afford private hospitals, some minor issues can go under the radar legally.

For example, your staff broke his arm, if you go gov hospital, it will be a workplace injury filed with MOM. If you go private hospital, so long u willing to pay for the proper and full treatment, A&E doctor will not report. Of course, if it is more serious or criminal in nature, doctors will definitely report.

But having said that, even if it is a rape incident and victim and offender are related (eg. friends or colleagues), going to private still make a difference because the culprit have time to to negotiate with victim that it's a moment of folly and settle. Rape becomes mutual consent. Just get blood test, smear tests and afternoon pills, etc.

Uncle went a&e for injury and doctor would just asked how the injury was inflicted but will not emphasise on it or even really bother. They are only keen to know about the extent of the injury.

You can find many unlicensed drivers in Tuas. Their full time job is fork lift driver and container stackers
 
many truck drivers from China work as bus drivers in the early morning and afternoon. After that they go to drive trucks at Tuas-PSA and Tuas-Jurong Port
