Here we go again: Toa Payoh food court

I just came back from Toa Payoh & the food court at the basement of the bus interchange was closed for renovations

Already noticed some stall closing before these renovations. I expect many more will be gone after the renovations :(

I've noticed many other long time food stalls closing in other food courts. PAP is renovating Spore to bankruptcy

They didn't throw, they gave away, for LONG TERM INVESTMENTS...be thankful, you great grand children, will reap the seeds they gave to the 'fields' to grow... but the 'birds of the air' will eat some.....

Heard was taken over by a food court chain or something. Change of major tenancy, hence redo-ing and upping the rentals.

After renovation will rental increase by at least 10% that not included ++++++charge. added all up will be around 30%.

Toa Payoh food court is a popular place for the really old senior citizens. They'll now have to find elsewhere to hangout. I bet you'll find many PAP supporters among them.

The old are a funny lot, they may tolerate billions in loses but if you mess with their daily lifes they may get angry & vote against the PAP.

Has anyone noticed the latest round of increases in the food court
I've noticed more long time stalls closing, portions of food being downsized, ..., usual signs of a rent increase ?

Come on PAP there is a recession going on . I'm surprised the PAP didn't wait for a recovery before continuing with their normal price hikes

Seems like the Muslim food prices are immune to price increase.

If you come to Geylang Serai Market, look around the display prices, most items are price above $3 and yet there are no shortage of people queuing up.

It's been just a few months since this new market is opened, but business is so good that now they are converting the "Function Hall" to yet another hawker outlet.

I heard the new food court will be operated by that NTUC subsidiary KouFu.
