Depression and anxiety -
Drinking alcohol in large amounts poisons the brain, and it's not a huge surprise that heavy drinkers will begin to experience mental health issues.
Any substance taken IN EXTREME will most certainly cause mental issues, even something as simple as a panadol, for relief. Ultimately, it is about MODERATION, in ALL kinds of food intake, be natural/organic or man-made, so long as it is NOT hallucinogenic such as Cannabis, Opium, Cocaine - PLANT based opioids, or man-made such as Fentanyl, etc, which are highly addictive & alters the Human mind, robbing him/her of her will & life.
Do consider, if wine/beers which are alcohol based substances, & at worse - 5% alcohol content for beers, & 40% alcohol content such as whisky which NO one drinks neat & need to be further diluted with ice or soft drinks, non-addictive & often drank in moderation to relieve mental issues temporarily, WHAT would happen if they have no access to such substances to relieve their minds temporarily or have at least a needed good sleep to recuperate their body systems in our highly pressured lifestyle of living for evolution & progress?
The issue of mental health does not lay directly with non-hallucinogenic substances. Addictive hallucinogenic drugs are another issue. The ROOT of mental health lays within the CONFIDENCE of an individual - his/her mental strength to cope with adversities & challenges daily or the encouragement, exemplified by loved ones & others as no Human is born out of a vacuum.
Taking away such non-hallucinogenic substances will NOT save any lives. The solution lays in a WIDER context of HOW we can help fellow Humans to cope & not rely heavily on substances instead, & worse if they go to the extreme over substances for relief, for the evolution of Humanity, which will involve education, costs, social governances & commitment to funding for research to eradicate pressures from political-economic-socio issues , etc.
