NEUSTRELITZ. An Afghan man of unknown age who raped an eleven-year-old girl in Neustrelitz city park does not have to go to prison. The city’s district court sentenced the asylum seeker to a two-year suspended sentence for the sexual abuse of minors and rape, reports the Nordkurier.

According to the public prosecutor, the perpetrator came to Germany as an unaccompanied, underage refugee without papers and most recently lived in shared accommodation in the small town in Mecklenburg. Since the rapist could not produce any documents confirming his real age, an expert report was commissioned, according to which he is said to be around 16 years old. He was therefore convicted under juvenile justice.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, he met the child about six months ago and immediately raped her the following day. In fact, he was aware of how old his victim was and claimed that he was acting against his will. (ho)
