The arabs were not interested in converting people to become muslims as the quran wasn't mass printed at that time. The arabs were busy learning and reading greek, roman, indian, chinese literature and absorbing their knowledge. That was how arab conquest became great.
Today, muslim read only the quran without understanding hoping to gain knowledge. You will never get that. Knowledge is available all around us in nature created by the Almighty. You need to study nature, its forces and how it works to be successful. That is what modern countries are currently doing.
