There is no easy-way-out. Have I implied that?
Aim of all political parties is to be the government in the future, whether in our life time or not is really unknown.
I have talked about this before about the source of politicians and I guess I will have to talk about it again. Social activists are the backbone of political development. Traditionally in Singapore, there are quite a number of routes whereby people take to political activism, as in becoming politicians. Lawyers, teachers, etc, but little recognized part is Social activism.
I would say that my transition comes from social activism and I will always proud to acknowledge that once a social activist. always a social activist.
Maybe it is a little bit difficult for you to understand but there is really little difference between social activist vs politician except that social activists value more on altruism and guided by their very own principles in their fight on whatever cause they chose to fight.
To become a government or not, is of course least of their concerns, unlike a political party. Their only concern is about effecting change to the society to what they desire to be.
Then you may ask, what kind of social activist am I and what am I fighting for? It is a wider base of social activism which includes political change to this system. We may not even need to become the government of the day to effect certain changes but the change must come via the electoral process.
Anyway, I digress. The truth is, frankly speaking, I may not live to see the day of PAP's down fall although certain political changes in the system may be effected. Well, it may sound like a defeatist mindset but honestly speaking, there are many voters out there who may vote for opposition but are not ready for such drastic thing to happen in Singapore. The change will have to be gradual for a start.
Goh Meng Seng
Nothing extraordinary happen. Now isn't that just great? No controversy, no nothing. The media focus was all on his long-standing in PP. All positives. That, is what politicians need to keep it mind.
Mr Goh, take a leaf from your previous Chairman. I believed she mentioned that the aim of all political parties is to be the government in the future. Now, THAT is the correct attitude. All these wishy-washy and easy-way-out attitude that you are projecting is making me really disappointed.
P.S. Not posted for years......
