Rice Exports by Country:

1. India: US$9.6 billion (37.5% of total rice exports)
2. Thailand: $3.4 billion (13%)
3. Pakistan: $2.2 billion (8.4%)
4. Vietnam: $2 billion (7.7%)
5. United States: $1.9 billion (7.5%)
6. China: $933 million (3.6%)

New Delhi: The government may consider export ban on rice after wheat and sugar to ensure adequate domestic supplies and prevent a rise in prices. A committee led by the Prime Minister's Office is doing a product-by-product analysis of essential commodities including non-Basmati rice and swift measures are expected if there are any signs of a price rise.
