It’s NOT complicated!!! The island of Taiwan was ceded to Imperial Japan by the Qing dynasty after the 1st Sino-Japanese War. After WWII, Japan relinquished its control over the island of Taiwan, repatriated most of the Japanese people that inhabited the island, and returned the island to China: 1 country 2 systems is how it has existed until now. Reunification was always the goal of the both the Nationalist and the Communists before the Communists fully gained control mid century and established the PRC. Mao Zedong claimed the island as belonging to the PRC. Deng Xiaoping repatriated Hong Kong from British Control and tried to peacefully repatriate Taiwan. Preeminent Leader Xi and the politburo standing committee are now adamant that the island be brought under control of Beijing. My proposal is that the U.S. and Japan unilaterally grant citizenship to the 25 million, mostly Han Chinese, living on the island and have the UN openly declare the island as belonging to the PRC. It’s the only way to preserve liberty for the Taiwanese people AND ensuring that international justice be served.

Taiwan was captured by a Chinese Ming dynasty general (chenggong-Zhu) from Dutch occupation in 1661. AFTER THAT, Han Chinese started to migrate from Chinese Fujian province to Taiwan. China was forced to cede Taiwan to Japan after it is defeated by Japan. The treaty signed under threat of force is not BINDING. So, China has every right to take Taiwan back after Japan was defeated in WW2. So, the land of Taiwan islands belongs to China legally. Taiwanese have every right to choose to be independent, as long as not on Chinese territory because this land legally belongs to China. Taiwanese are only tenants on Chinese territory. Taiwanese should consider to establish their own country on Antarctica along with penguins.

No matter what, the Malays are pendatangs. The earliest settlers came from region between Yunnan and Indochina. Hence Malaya including Singapore is rightly part of China. The Polynesian came much later.
