KUALA KUBU BHARU: The sessions court here sentenced a senior citizen to six years in prison over a charge of having unnatural sex with a female goat at the back of his neighbour’s house last July.
Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza meted out the sentence to Shaari Hasan after the 60-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 377 of the Penal Code.
His jail sentence will run from his date of arrest (July 28). The court also ordered Shaari to undergo rehabilitative counselling and be placed under police supervision for one year after his release.
Earlier today, the man admitted knowledge of all the exhibits shown to him before the court. His lawyer, Muizzudin Schanni Feizal Maurice Feizal, went over the court’s exhibits with him.
During the previous court proceeding on Nov 25, Shaari had denied knowledge of some of the exhibits, prompting Mardhiah to reject his guilty plea.
Muizzudin, in mitigation, told the court that the accused was remorseful over his action.
“I urge the court to impose a jail sentence from the date of arrest and not to impose a whipping sentence as he is now a senior citizen,” he added.
The court also heard that Shaari has three past convictions for molest.
Khairunnisak Noor Harun, prosecuting, urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence against Shaari.
It was reported that the incident was discovered by the goat’s owner, a 45-year-old woman, after hearing the animal making strange noises at the back of her house.
According to police, she went to the scene and found a half-naked man that she knew standing near the goat.
