Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).
As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.
FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.

Lionel Messi will not sign a new contract at Barcelona, the club has confirmed.

The Argentine star's latest deal expired this summer but he was expected to commit to a new contract ahead of the new season.

Messi held talks with the club on Thursday and although both parties hoped to reach an agreement that would see Messi remain at Camp Nou, Goal understands there were discrepancies that put the deal at risk of collapsing.

What has been said?

A statement on the club's website read: "Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).

Man city or psg?

Not many clubs in the world can afford his salary

Definitely.

The other place could be Middle East or China. Or maybe USA?

If he still wants to compete then Man City lah.

All other places.....likely just for the money.

Actually you can see from this that Messi is a bastard. Barcelona done so much for him throughout his career. And he has already earned enough. But he did not want to help Barcelona get back some money by selling him. He needed to sign the contract for that to happen.

Messi is asshole. But hey you dont get to be the top in anything if you are not one. As I said in the other thread.

Cut pay 50% of cuz leave la. U think now footballer is a loyal?

If i were him i will consider this list

1) Juventus - can play top class player Ronaldo. Italian league those mid table clubs onwards are very lousy. Some of mid table or low team's stadium dont even have huge arena. Juventus owners are super rich as rich as bank.

2) China - can earn easy large sum of money. Can fk around those chinese babe as he is an ang mo and not ah neh or blackie as they will get rejected but he is seem not tat kind of guy who like to fk around.

3) PSG - not so ideal as he need to challenge young player like mbappe. French league wise is also lepak so shld be fine with him. PSG is also rich.

4) US - can lepak alrdy and earn easy money.

5) Man city - not ideal. Epl league those mid table and low team use physical approach. He is old alrdy and dont wan to get so many knocks. Epl clubs many rich investors invest those mid table and low team. Is quite challenging.

Lionel Messi expected to sign with PSG, will have farewell press conference at Barcelona

Epl is the toughest and most physical challenging league

Most likely PSG.

Hopefully PSG ends up trophyless again and their silly Arab owner gets angry again.

If a footballer still has a desire to play for the national team, he better not play in China, USA or some other shitty league e.g. Turkey, Ukraine, Russia etc. It's career suicide.

Confirmed psg.
Imagine messi in front and ramos at the back.
Champion League winner

Barca on the verge of bankruptcy liao lah. The la liga will start to decline like the post 90s Seria A ..

EPL is set to become the new center of European league football

As for messi, he will still get picked if he go china or us play. Argentina soccer team cant do without him yet. If he play there, he can lepak and fully focus on the upcoming world cup. Just play one season at a lower league wont downgrade a footballer's skill. Is just stereotype.
