SINGAPORE – A historic outing at the Olympics for Singapore equestrienne Caroline Chew ended in heartbreak as she was eliminated from the dressage individual qualification competition on Sunday (July 25) after her horse Tribiani was found to be bleeding from the mouth.

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) said that she was eliminated in accordance with International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) dressage rules article 430.7.6.1, which states: If the Judge at C suspects fresh blood anywhere on the Horse during the test, he will stop the horse to check for blood. If the Horse shows fresh blood, it will be eliminated. The elimination is final. If the Judge through examination clarifies that the Horse has no fresh blood, the Horse may resume and finish its test.

The SNOC said that Francis Verbeek Van Rooij (president of ground jury) had halted Chew’s ride to check and confirmed traces of blood were seen in the 17-year-old gelding’s mouth.

Why was the horse bleeding from the mouth. Did he receive a punch in the face?

Why is dressage even considered a sport ? Who is being judged ?the horse or the rider?

Lots of money to transport the horse from Singapore to Tokyo by air and back, plus all the quarantine fees and logistics costs. Who pay for this type of competition?

very likely during transportation, horse gets injured if crew doesn’t harness it well in the enclosed carriage. its head bumps into wall of carriage during traffic stops. that’s why driver must be trained and certified to be able to start and break gradually and knowledgeable about securing horse in carriage. considering that sg’s climate is hot and humid, and jippun’s july weather is similar, pressure, temperature, humidity can be ruled out as factors. @Talking Donkey should be knowledgeable about this subject.

If she wins, horse did all the jumping and hopping snd rigorous training but it gets no medal.

HAHAHA...what a fucking joke. Wasting taxpayers money...hope she come back with Covid positive too.

Only 3 reasons for this.
1: infection/ulcer in the gums
2: stress out from the wrongly fits bit, either too tight or loose causing the horse to keep playing with it till it bleeds or bites its own tongue.
3: brushes its teeth too hard

Only 3 reasons for this (advice from world-renowned vet, dr giddy-up)
1: infection/ulcer in the gums - stop licking / sucking other horses or rider's genitals!
2: stress out from the wrongly fits bit, either too tight or loose causing the horse to keep playing with it till it bleeds or bites its own tongue. - use neck brace or horse / mouth-guard!
3: brushes its teeth too hard - soft diet of mashed hay and use dental floss!
if all else fails, or it doesn't win the dressage coz of fugly cross-dressing, follow advice of movie "they shoot horses, don't they?"

This is another example of PAP supporting the rich and elite -how many people participate in this 'sport' In singapore?
Is this the time to spend money on luxuries like this (even if her rich family pays through own pocket) when millions are suffering?

For a cuntry like ours...urban jungle and no pastures or open fields for horses or no historical association with Equusis...wtf are we sending horse riding participants to Olympics ??? Especially for this sport category...you need to fly the fucking horse there too.

Total waste of money for some egositical loser to gain experience in the world stage. Taxpayers money better spent on subsidising the poor hawkers now.
