I swear that the whole point of modern methods of cashless payments is to create jobs for the middlemen e.g. customer service officers whom you talk to for payment disputes, QR code scanning app developers to 'update' their app once in a while.
Monitoring when/where you bought which items is also a side benefit... for them. The data analysts etc.
