You ain’t exactly right ..why ?
because do countries like China or India faces this problem of foreigners influx whether coolies or as expats ? But of course you may reason that’s because they have enough local grown for each and every need so why import problem ...but should they would they ? For example even China may actually be in need of certain professional but would they ? therein lies the answer
why did we resorted to imports of foreigners in the first place ...because we wanted to accelerate our growth much faster than our generic growth ; that’s why ...sort of fulfilling an artificial need ,just like we create gardens here by plucking some full grown trees and planting it elsewhere
which begets the question why should we be so unhappy about our generic growth , especially in the light of countries such as our neighbours Malaysia or Thailand who just go about with their natural growth ...do I than you saying ,Oh they have natural resources but we don’t ?But I won’t buy that reason because countries like Dubai or Brunei who are flooded with natural resources have more foreign workers than their population , meaning their floating population is twice of their natives ...but the critical difference between them and us is ,there is no such thing as PRs or citizenship for foreigners whether they are toilet Cleaners or nuclear scientists ..This is a fact for I had operated myself in both counties ..even the personal doctor of the sultan of Brunei for 20 odd years could not get to be a PR ..their system works on a 2 years contract renewable for all foreigners
so , how did we got into this foreigners loving nation than ? 2 factors that is ,PAP mismanaged our racial demography and secondly LKY penchant for a city with buzz factor like HK , which he had maintained in many of his speeches
our races composition were mismanaged by PAP since 75 % chinese at any cost for PAP vote banks is vital by the very PAP survival , this itself was a major disaster as priority in jobs and education must be given to be attractive , so a flux of jiu Hu kia chinks were mooted ,but they brought their racist baggage's and wrecked the fabric of our society ...this experiment having failed the next target were the Tiongs thus a mandarin first campaign among the Sinkies to make Tiongs at home was initiated ...so this went on to not only wreaking our society but creating an imbalance in our racial composition such as a situation like mandarin campaign driving local born kelings out fleeing Sinkie which resulted in huge brain drain among them , so PAP sought to balance that with imports of CECA to fill that brain drain but the CECA imports drove the local chinese out of their jobs Instead , hence this musical chair of management by crisis resulted
