Is Donald Trump actually sick

I may not be a "highly trained" scientist but I have a tertiary honors degree in the sciences.

All I'm doing is looking at the data which I consider reliable.

EG take a look at Singapore's data

https://epidemic-stats.com/coronavirus/singapore

27 deaths out of 57819 confirmed infections = 0.046% CFR.

Influenza has a CFR of 0.1% based on wiki data.

Also take note that NOBODY has died from Covid-19 in Singapore since June despite soaring infection rates in the dorms over the months that followed.

Even in the UK which had a high Covid death toll in the early stages of the covid outbreak now has more flu deaths per week.

Covid needs to be put in perspective.
you cannot guesstimate who will die from COVID. You post the same drivel seen all over the internet and the result?

2nd, 3rd, waves now hitting European nations.

better question is, why are you doing this? Do you think this is funny?

Are you those type who think that virus can kill you and need to mask on in every seconds of the day? Need to sanitize your hand every 10 minutes once the gel has evaporated from your hand?

Then take the mask off. And no. I dont do that but I do not think its funny to make fun of the virus like this Sam Leong does.

The "waves" that you refer to are actually positive tests which in no way implies that those that test positive are actually sick.

You can find out more about these "waves" by checking out https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/biweekly-covid-deaths?tab=chart&time=earliest..latest

Case numbers are up simply because way more testing is being done and the tests are not a reliable source of actual infections either because the PCR testing is being amplified way beyond the norm ie up to 35x to 40x in many countries.

Then take the mask off. And no. I dont do that but I do not think its funny to make fun of the virus like this Sam Leong does.
The virus is not as deadly or dangerous as you think. You sound like those who is ready to be vaccinated due to the extreme illogical fear of the harmless virus.

I will never get vaccinated (dark agenda) for such nonsense, i didn't use any smelly gel hand sanitizer and discourage anyone to use it. when i mask on, i leave my nose expose to get real breathing. In the beginning mask might be necessary but now???

I'm not making fun of the virus I'm simply putting things in perspective. I don't make fun of influenza either it almost killed me 20 years ago despite being vaccinated. The vaccine only covers 3 to 4 strains and which strains to include is largely done by guesswork. The strain I caught was not in the mix.

However the reaction to Covid-19 is ridiculous and the lockdowns are doing far more damage than the virus itself.

Nobody locked down the economy to save me from catching flu despite that fact that it can be lethal. My aunt died of Influenza but nobody locked down to save her either.

no, i see what you are doing here. satire. well, its your forum. if you want to mess with people and screw them up, go ahead.

Flu vaccines are very ineffective especially for the elderly that have weak immune responses. In some years they are almost useless for the over 65s. However no government has locked down a country because the flu vaccine has shown to be ineffective and as a result tens of thousands of the elderly have died.

dotard at first tot faking it and then faking recovering might be a good elections ploy and appeal to his retarded rednecks voters, it makes him look like a superhero of sort but the plot twist later when he really kana wuhan, lol...but then too late liao, the fake show becum real show :D

and now Tamiflu does not work, ok i'll tell the doc the 30-40% efficacy i read about is false, according to you.

actually, go ahead continue to sound like a Donald Trump, I'll just ignore you from now on.

Donald Trump has actually taken the virus far more seriously than I have. I knew from the beginning that it was no big deal whereas Trump was actually one of the first to react and stop inbound flights from China and the dems attacked him for being xenophobic at the time.

then by all means stop wearing the mask. people like you should just take it off. if you get sick like Trump, just ask for the same treatment as him and you will be fine.

you see, according to this forum, masks dont work. So just go to some worker dorms here, take the mask off and walk around. guarantee no problem for you.

GET FLUED UP How many people die of flu every year?

AROUND 17,000 people die of the flu every year in England, data from Public Health England (PHE) shows.
Seasonal flu is a major killer and contributes to a rise in mortality rates in the colder, winter months.
Deaths caused by the flu and related conditions differ year on year

Flu-related conditions liked pneumonia are some of the biggest killers during the winter.
Pneumonia causes a build-up of fluid and swelling on the lungs and causes 30,000 deaths in the UK each year, the British Lung Foundation has previously stated.
So far in the UK over 42,000 people have died from the virus and cases are continuing to rise across the country.
Including pneumonia into the total deaths caused by seasonal influenza would likely see this pushed above deaths caused by Covid-19.

On September 29 it was reported that flu killed ten times more Brits than coronavirus last week for the 14th week in a row.

Data from the Office for National Statistics stated that 14 per cent of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending September 18 were caused by flu and pneumonia.
By comparison, Covid-19 accounted for 1.5 per cent of all deaths - a total of 139 fatalities.
Figures from the ONS show the number of deaths where influenza, pneumonia or Covid-19 are mentioned on the death certificate

The World Health Organisation (WHO) states: "Advanced age increases the incidence of and the mortality from pneumonia.
"Comorbidity and a diminished immune response and defence against aspiration increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia."

The WHO also states that globally, between 290,000 and 650,000 people die of respiratory deaths each year which are associated with seasonal influenza.
Data from PHE shows that on average, between 2014/15 to 2018/19, 17,000 people died from the flu in England.
Yearly deaths vary widely between highs of 28,330 in 2014/2015 and lows of 1,692 in 2018/19.
During the summer PHE published updated figures for 2018/19 which showed that a total of 3,966 flu deaths occurred during that period.

This puts the average at around 15,000.
A spokesperson from PHE said the number of deaths from flu cases varies every year.
"The average number of estimated deaths in England for the last five seasons (2015/16 to 2019/20) was over 11,000 deaths annually.
"This ranged from almost 4,000 deaths in 2018/19 to over 22,000 deaths in 2017/18.
"Of these deaths, many were in people with underlying conditions."
Experts have previously warned that symptoms of coronavirus are similar to the flu and have urged people to get tested if they experience symptoms such as a new persistent cough, a high temperature or a loss of taste and smell.
A&E doctor and former Love Island contestant Dr Alex George previously told The Sun that people of all ages should be wary of the flu.
He said: "Over the winter months it’s much more prevalent as we are closer together.
The graph above shows the difference between a cold, flu and Covid-19

The graph above shows the difference between a cold, flu and Covid-19
“Around 17,000 people a year die from the flu and while it’s more common in the elderly and vulnerable, it can happen at any age.”
Each year PHE releases an annual flu report.
The most recent report for winter 2019/2020 states that low levels of influenza activity were observed in the community.
The report, which was published in June this year stated: "Activity started
to increase from week 47, 2019, with the length and peak of activity in general practice varying across the UK, reaching low levels in England, and medium levels in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales."
The report also found that uptake of the flu vaccine was higher in 2019 in England, with 72.4 per cent of those over the age of 65 having the jab, this was up from 72.0 per cent the year before.
However uptake was lower in children under the age of six months and pregnant women.
What is the flu?
The NHS states the signs of flu include:
  • a sudden fever - a temperature of 38C or above
  • an aching body
  • feeling tired or exhausted
  • a dry cough
  • a sore throat
  • a headache
  • difficulty sleeping
  • loss of appetite
  • diarrhoea or tummy pain
  • feeling sick or being sick
In order to ease the pressure on the NHS, the government previously stated it will provide 30 million flu jabs in order to prevent a second wave of the coronavirus.
Dr Alex added that parents need to be aware that their kids can get the flu too.
He said: “It’s important that we encourage people to go and get the vaccine, it really can help.

“People think the cold and flu can overlap but the cold is caused by a group of viruses that affect the nose”.
He added that the flu is caused by influenza viruses that can hit both young kids and adults.
Dr Alex said: “In A&E young people are coming in very sick with the flu, it’s not just for the elderly, one in ten people don’t realise that you can actually die from the flu, so it’s something that needs to be taken seriously”.

How effective is the flu jab in preventing illness?

My immune system can handle it. No problem. Need no vaccine, need no mask, need no smelly hand gel.

As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical, and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.

“This is the saner approach, the more scientific approach,” the authors tell Freddie Sayers

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.

Fortunately, our understanding of the virus is growing. We know that vulnerability to death from COVID-19 is more than a thousand-fold higher in the old and infirm than the young. Indeed, for children, COVID-19 is less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza.

As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e. the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity.

The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection.

Adopting measures to protect the vulnerable should be the central aim of public health responses to COVID-19. By way of example, nursing homes should use staff with acquired immunity and perform frequent PCR testing of other staff and all visitors. Staff rotation should be minimized. Retired people living at home should have groceries and other essentials delivered to their home. When possible, they should meet family members outside rather than inside. A comprehensive and detailed list of measures, including approaches to multi-generational households, can be implemented, and is well within the scope and capability of public health professionals.

Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal. Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold. Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume. People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.

Critics describe proposal to isolate vulnerable, disabled and older people as ‘grotesque’

An international group of scientists has called on governments to overturn their coronavirus strategies and allow young and healthy people to return to normal life while protecting the most vulnerable.
The proposal, drawn up by three researchers but signed by many more, argues for letting the virus spread in low-risk groups in the hope of achieving “herd immunity”, where enough of the population is resistant to the virus to quell the pandemic.
Described as “the Great Barrington declaration”, after the Massachusetts town where it was drawn up, the plan marks the latest round in a hotly contested debate between scientists who back radically different approaches to the crisis. One critic said the “grotesque” plan amounted to a culling of sick and disabled people.
The authors of the declaration – Sunetra Gupta, of Oxford University, Jay Bhattacharya, of Stanford University, and Martin Kulldorff, of Harvard University – argue that Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions are having “devastating effects” on public health by disrupting routine care and harming mental health, with the underprivileged bearing the greatest burden.
While many governments are trying to suppress the virus until new treatments and vaccines are found, the trio write that older people and others at risk should be shielded while those in the least danger should “immediately be allowed to resume life as normal”.
David Livermore, a professor of medical microbiology at the University of East Anglia and a signatory of the declaration, said older people in care homes might be protected if carers were paid good salaries to live in either the homes or neighbouring accommodation for a month at a time.
The authors conceded it was harder to protect the large number of older people in the community, but suggested individuals could shield themselves. “If you’re 75, you can choose to go out as little as possible,” he said. Efforts to keep infections low “merely dragged matters out”, he added.
Last month, two scientific groups in the UK offered conflicting advice. In one open letter, Prof Gupta and her colleagues argued that suppressing the virus was “unfeasible”, while the other, headed by Prof Trish Greenhalgh, also at Oxford, said it was not practical to cut off an entire cohort of vulnerable people from open society.
William Hanage, a professor of epidemiology at Harvard, said the declaration seemed to be attacking the idea of mass, ongoing lockdowns, a proposal that nobody was suggesting. “After pointing out, correctly, the indirect damage caused by the pandemic, they respond that the answer is to increase the direct damage caused by it,” he said.
Work by Hanage and others suggests Covid becomes more lethal than flu for people in their mid-30s and climbs exponentially from there, meaning that swathes of the population would need protecting. “Stating that you can keep the virus out of places by testing at a time when the White House has an apparently ongoing outbreak should illustrate how likely that is,” he said.
Another concern, he added, was that an uncontrolled outbreak among young and healthy people could leave many with long-term medical issues, including the “long Covid” disorders that have already affected young people.
In a Twitter thread responding to the declaration, Gregg Gonsalves, an epidemiologist at Yale University, said shutdowns and other interventions were necessary to reduce rates of infection. With nearly half of the population having some underlying health risk for Covid-19, he said herd immunity strategies were about “culling the herd of the sick and disabled. It’s grotesque.”
