A brand that I coveted during my schools day.....sadly the pedigree is no longer there after changing hands.
Nakamichi was essentially the Lexus of audio in the 70s and 80s. The Dragon cassette deck shown here was the ultimate in consumer tape technology and it can squeeze out the maximum performance from any cassette with its superb automatic tape calibration and automatic azimuth correction.

Last time there were plenty of tv brands: Thomson, Grundig, National etc. Now it's mainly Samsung and LG, with Sony and a few others scrapping for the remaining market share.

This was the first tv set at home when I was a small child. ITT brand. To tune a channel, you open the cover in front, stick a key into a hole and turn until you get the signal. Occasionally you would stumble on Malaysian and Indonesian channels.

Analog life was more interesting than digital life.

The second tv set was this 29 inch Sony Trinitron, with its curved speaker ears on the sides. This one lasted for many, many years, it only needed a couple of repairs. From the mid 1990s until mid 2010s. Others were buying LCD tv, plasma tv etc during all these years. Not us.

My aunt bought a 28-inch Trinitron TV, just like the image you posted, in the 80s and it came with a freaking 4-year warranty. Totally unheard of in those days and even now. It costs almost SGD3000 which was a very hefty sum then.
Sony really ruled the CRT in the 80s.

Not that expensive. I think it was more like 5k-6k, which was freaking expensive for a cassette recorder in the 80s.

electronic prices back then were amazingly high, compared to now, still remem those audiophiles ppl who saved up whole month salary just to buy their fancy set
