SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 61 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Tuesday (Aug 11), including two in the community and three imported infections, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
It is the lowest number of daily cases since Apr 2, when 49 new cases were reported. Tuesday's cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 55,353.
Both community cases reported on Tuesday were Singaporeans, said MOH in its preliminary daily update. The three imported cases were placed on stay-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.
The vast majority of infections are work permit holders currently under quarantine.

Herd immunity achieved in the foreign worker population so numbers have started dropping significantly.

I thought the migrant workers story never end, more soapy than 春花望露。
but now it drops to below 100.

Hahaha, can 101 and 101 or any combinations in 2 days.

Of course case numbers will fluctuate but the overall trend will be downwards from now on.

I'll believe it when people are allowed to roam the streets without wearing a mask, there's no need to scan SafeEntry anymore, and those 'ambassadors' fuck off back to where they came from.

Who are you kidding? When all those things happen you and your ilk will still find anything and everything to fault the system. Why dont you stand for elections as an independent and try to change things if you are so dissatisfied? Is it because you cant come up with the deposit? Try Crowdfunding.

I hope the pandemic not ends so early, I want LHL to be our PM as long as possible

This confirms that herd immunity is achieved at 20% to 25% of the population.

Exactly the same for other infectious diseases for which studies have already been made decades ago.

Singapore 6 million people.

If herd immunity is achieved at 25% of the population that means 1.5 million infected.

Assuming 0.02% mortality rate, that means 3,000 dead.

I think 3,000 dead is very manageable for our healthcare system. Looks like the lockdown was unnecessary.

As a guide, only
21,446
died in SG in 2019.

If we had gone for herd immunity, only 1/7 of total 2019 deaths would have been incurred.

Our foreign worker domitories are a mini Sweden within SIngapore.

Leongsam ought to be proud of our fine accomplishment.
