As far as the Pioneer and Merdeka old farts are concerned, PAP has always been the opposition. It's like time has stood still all these decades. The old farts vote for my PAP as though they are still the opposition and the Oppies are the fucking assholes who are ingrates and out to take away this beautiful cosmopolitan city from their children.

Giving PAP a strong mandate will ensure that PAP has the support of the sinkies and that sinkies approval of its programs. Since when has the PAP backtracked on the goodies it has given out after it has received an even stronger mandate?

Most of the good things sinkies have received, subsidized housing, CPF, jobs, all came during a period of 100% PAP control of parliament.

And likewise all the bad things happened during PAP dominance like unfettered immigration (CECA for one) and spiraling costs of living. Not forgetting the failed attempts at privatization of transportation. Also high utility prices for years which were suddenly reduced by over 20% in a snap. I'm sure others can point out more than I have.
