A video involving a man and several police officers has been circulating online.
The video showed the police conducting a routine check along Veerasamy Road on June 22, when the man pulled out his phone and filmed the incident.
The video was shared to Facebook, and has since been taken down, but reuploaded by Roads.sg on their own Facebook page on June 22.
In the video, at least five police officers can be seen at the scene.
The man in the video claims to be a resident living in the vicinity and was on his way home, apparently gave the police his ID.
One of the female officers then asks her colleague in Mandarin to "search him".

The man who was stopped then held his bag out at the officer and asked her to "take" it, saying "search, search, search... search lah."
The officer requested that he put down his phone and bag so a search can be conducted.

He asked, "What you suspect me of? To search me?"
The officer responded, saying, "Put down your items. Please cooperate with me."
The man was then asked to stand against the car as the search was conducted.
He said, "I no gun lah bro."
His friends standing by the pavement can be heard laughing at this remark.

At the end, the female officer was seen taking out a torchlight and examining the contents of his bag.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police said that they had approached a group of four men along Veerasamy Road to conduct a check on them at around 2:20am on June 22.
Three of them were "compliant and cooperated with the police officers". However, the fourth person ignored the police officers’ instructions and walked away initially, but returned to join the group.
The police officers then checked the four of them, and conducted a search on the fourth man’s belongings.
Such checks and patrols are an "essential part" of policing
The police said that the group left after the checks were completed, which took about 10 minutes.
The police also said that officers conduct patrols and checks on persons in public to project police presence and to deter criminals from committing criminal offences and terrorist acts.
Such checks, which may include searches, are part of the day-to-day policing.
"We hope that the public can understand and appreciate the need for such checks, which ensures the safety and security of the public, and that the public will cooperate with police officers as they carry out their duties."
Comments pointed out that routine checks happen all the time
In response to the video, several pointed out that routine checks by the police are standard procedure, and the man should have been more cooperative.
Some also applauded the police officers for being "professional".
