In short, CCP never fulfill nor uphold their promises to their people about democratic process when they took over China from KMT in 1940s and recently Xi made changes further to make him the only man with full power as though he is the Emperor.

Bo Xilai was suppose to take over but it seems they have sabotaged his ascendency. Poor guy now in prison on corruption charges despite his work revitalizing and transforming chongqing which lies inland.

remove foreign trade from the equation and the CCP will gravitate towards it's level of advancement in the 70's. It will not totally end up there because they now have somewhat of a free market when they used to have none.
The CCP will fall when the citizens of that country have had enough of it. Right now, the going is still relatively good so they're still going to be ok. But the country's growth was fuelled by a lot of corrupt practices. These practices will eventually hit the bottom line. One of my favourite horror stories is how land is being dispossessed from farming communities to be sold to build condos no one can afford to live in.
Eventually when enough of the common people go hungry feeding the politically powerful will the regime change happen. How long can slaves than before they revolt? Needs a spark.
