There are certain brands of phones who are in my not to buy list. N Sony is one of them. They dont give any firmware updates n after sales sucks. They just sell the phone. Hibernate for 2years n come up with a new model. Push sales n the cycle repeats itself

very high standard!
I mean, the girls.

Most Android phones are like that. You want software updates for 5-6 years after the phone's release, get an iPhone.

Alamak! Even the girl is mid range! Sad!

Just buy a Xiaomi or Oppo phone. Good phones. No contract and below $300. Can easily last 3 years or more.

Worst still, Sony phones are hard to root, making DIY updates a pain in the ass.

Selling phones it's not on Sony's to do list. They earn more selling their tech like camera sensors etc. Sell phones is like a side show

The best decision they ever made was buy over Minolta.
This is just my analysis. Sony no longer depends on consumer products to earn money. They are more into selling tech and parts. Sony image sensors to mobile phones etc . They earn no matter what. So why bother with selling phones directly n have to invest in firmware updates etc. So their mobile phones is a sideshow and its stupid for us to buy their phones as there is no support . I prefer samsung as they supply updates as mobiles are their bread n butter

Sony is not the only kid on the block doing sensors. Toshiba, Samsung and several Israel companies are also supply sensors to camera and phone makers
Sony is basically standing on its last leg now. They really fucked up big time as they were the king of audio and video in the 80s and 90s. Somewhere along the line they went astrayed and bought up movie companies they have no experience in managing.
In their prime, Sony professional Walkmans Esoteric line of Hifi and Trinitron TVs were something to die for.
