the fines are a pittance compared to the revenue and profits generated by the dorms.

the fines should be set as a percentage of revenue per offence.

Maximum fine is $50k - which is f*** all - The amount is covered by fewer than SEVENTY workers' charges for one month.
It is a "risk" worth taking.

In early March, while the
coronavirus
was engulfing countries around the world, Lee told Singaporeans to “go about our lives as normally as possible”. Soon after, Singapore released its
electoral boundaries report
, a precursor to the election. It became apparent that the “dance” was more politically expedient than the “hammer”: the PAP would be able to call an early election (not due until April 2021) to leverage goodwill it earned from its Covid-19 response to date into a fresh, five-year mandate.

Sure enough, electioneering during “the dance” has proved disastrous. PAP politicians have routinely worked the ground in seeming violation of safe-distancing norms. For example Chia Shi-Lu, a politician (and medical doctor), pranced around a food centre on April 12, five days after Singapore enacted its “circuit breaker” that banned all non-essential activities. Chia handed out masks to hawkers already wearing their own, accompanied by a prospective candidate, a photojournalist and other hangers-on.
Meanwhile Josephine Teo, manpower minister, decided to hobnob with constituents in a new district at the end of March, the very moment a humanitarian crisis was brewing at the
migrant worker dormitories
under her care.

I thinking how come nobody POFMA her for false data of data on dormitory violations operators.Seems like try to smoke ppl when make mistakes, jialat party, getting worse n still hold us as idiots tryong to bluff her way thru

She told the House on Monday (May 4) that accommodation standards for migrant workers have become better over the years, but acknowledged that further improvements could be made.
It’s in the chinese newspaper they built all these large dormitories to give more interaction area and better environment to these foreign workers but now end up the large size and too much interaction is a problem for spreading virus.

She still arguing ,don't want to resign .Give her 2 options either resign now or hara-kiri.

The main problem is we don't have a collective voice while they have 158 and POFMA hence will become ownself check ownself, twist and turn this is human nature and is growing overly out of hand now. Our oppies... don't get me started again...

There are good people but we don't even have enough competent locals to form our own government whose faults ? Even with million dollars salaries there's not enough quality people willingly going into politics here.

Due to the mainly coolie genes we don't have an established ancestors or lineage here so when they throw a bone or two or public shares, benefits etc people kowtow and became lead by the nose just for the benefits of shares, cheap labours in almost all businesses and enjoy high SG properties/ rentals until their own children suffers can't find job that pays high enough. Is it not ?

So why has there been no minimum wage to protect us for so long ? Greed.

But the greatest error and faults lies on the people itself out of ignorance is the grassroots they're the missing link. They bully the people they keep the majority of give-outs and 'gifts' supposingly for the civilians for themselves instead and they practically stand line-up with flags and garlands waiting for their MPs to arrive they forgot who's the real boss. They spoilt them !

Why does the MPs don't ever walk around in normal days the grassroots are the worst link we all depends on wrongly ! They drools and brags of their free high class restaurant dinners and overseas holidays.

This is a democratic society not a Kingdom they're civil servants we're the ones that pays their salary for a job to serve us. Do without the benefits and gives out and get real people with heart to serve but are there any is the problem.

They did not truly serve the people but the authority. They're given first choice to choose and buy flats they're given first opportunity to own an old stall or market shops when it becomes available then they rent out, high ! These are trick or treats ?! These benefits are not ok it makes them corrupt and they DID NOT help or bring the hardship of the people known to the MPs instead only scheme for selfish benefits and porlumpar the MPs.....

They're the ones interacting with the authorities everyday in error not for the people but selves. How can we always blame the authorities alone ?!

Basic decency among the people from oppies to grassroots if not present what do you expect of the entire society base on greed even given the best willing authorities ?

We already have the bestest systems Grassroots > MPs > Ministers ?!! and Oppies too, ok scratch that. Why is it not working for us ? Blame who ?!

Totalitarian regimes' first instinct with bad news is to cover up and obfuscate. From petty white lies to blatant Orwellian North Korean style propaganda.

There is no transparency, and truth is uncomfortable and considered a 'loss of face' for the 'divine mandate to rule'.
Ya totalitarian regimes never think they did wrong or feel sorry for the injustice they did to some lowly people that are not their cronies. Exactly like how you lowly cronies criminal bullies thieves slanderers harassers never think you did any wrong or feel sorry for the injustice you did to me.

sinkees can be easily manipulated, they are selfish and balls-less.

No need to ask, he's a dorm operator
Dorm operator, dorm operator
Dorm operator
Coast to coast, Changi to Jurong, Sinkie male
Across the north and south, to Punggol, slaves for sale

The dormitories are coast to coast all over Spore indeed. Which means the dormitories must be lockdown until the foreign worker new cases are low, if not the whole island broader community will be infected with big second wave as soon as the foreign workers travel on mrt during weekends all over Spore. The problem is how long is it going to take for the foreign workers new cases to drop to low double digit or single digit? How many months Singaporeans must lockdown together with the foreign workers? The foreign workers are well taken care of but suay citizens like me have to take care of myself ok. They should end the lockdown for broader community first while continue to lockdown the foreign workers.

The government has promised a comprehensive review ob its approach to the outbreak once the crisis election is over.
