catching COVID from the dead...

I am not medically trained. Isn't this like HIV?
So those cured of wuhan are technically "carriers" for life?

There are loads of viral infections where the virus is never cleared from the body so this is hardly unusual.

The best known examples are Herpes and Warts. There are no symptoms but a state of truce between virus and host persists. However the virus always wins in the end when old age or other illnesses compromise the immune system.

Not in the Weibo community, no idea where these chaps have gone. Do you hear anything from their friends and relatives?
They been missing for a while.
Disappear from earth.

Dr aifen is the one of 8 whistleblower with Dr lee wenliang

actually herpes viruses are in class of their own from what I know. All viruses that can stay dormant and return to an active state are from the herpes family. From warts or cold sores to shingles. All are herpes variants. I haven't heard of a virus that stays dormant like this outside of the herpes family. Something about hiding out in the CNS.

But common colds and influenza and other viruses are cleared totally. This coronavirus, well....

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls on the Chinese authorities to urgently clarify the situation of Dr. Ai Fen, a whistleblower who has been unreachable for the past two weeks after giving interviews to the media in which she criticized Beijing’s censorship of information about the coronavirus epidemic.
04/13/2020 UPDATE
RSF has taken note of the video published on the Weibo account of the whistleblower Ai Fen, which suggests that she is free to move, and hopes that it was not staged by the Chinese regime. RSF remains concerned for journalists Chen Quishi, Fang Bin and Li Zehua missing after investigating COVID-19.

Ai Fen (Chinese: 艾芬; pinyin: Ài Fēn) is a Chinese doctor and director of the emergency department of Central Hospital of Wuhan. She is the first medical personnel to disclose the 2019–20 coronavirus epidemic to the outside world. She was given the nickname "The Whistle-Giver" (发哨子的人) in an article in the Chinese Renwu (or People) magazine, which the Chinese government censored, but which was reposted on the Chinese internet using emojis, Morse code and pinyin to circumvent censorship.[1]

Let pray for Dr Ai Fen.

Mononucleosis does not go away either. Neither does TB in some people.

I doubt very much that this covid-19 hangs around forever. It's just that when you keep looking for something you usually find it in the end.

If they checked for cold viruses the same way they'd probably find it hangs around longer than expected too.

I did not say that TB was a virus. I was pointing out that there is such a thing called latent TB where it hangs around for a long time and testing will indicate a positive result.

Mononucleosis is a sub category of the Herpes family but unlike the other types it can cause chronic disease and has ruined the careers of many sportsmen/women.

yah... so either way, it's early days and a bit out of my comfort zone to guess which way this one's going to go.

of course, I have been in the past proven guilty of being slow on the uptake...
