Reminds me of WW2 when enemy snipers/machine-gunners would always pick off field medics/corpsmen. One less medic/corpsman = many dead soldiers.7 billion people in the world u can just train another 100 million people to be healthcare personnel.....it's not like they are special u know?if u can train someone to be engineer lawyer u can train someone to be doctor nurse.of course try to keep ur doctors alive they are much harder to replace.

Without the medic on the battlefield, injured soldiers did not have someone to treat their wounds. And a higher chance of them bleeding out and dying. Hence, medic/corpsmen were targeted. Especially by the Japs in the Pacific war. The red cross on white background symbol on helmets and on armbands were subsequently discarded. Why because medics are like some kind of magical energy shield or force field that prevents soldiers from getting hurt or killed?a smart medic is just going to stay behind cover out of enemy fire while giving first aid and distributing morphine capsules.whatever a medic does is after the fact something happens.
I'm pretty sure what ever infantry's going to die is going to die cause numerically there's way more of them, they are cannon fodder after all....like in a space battle u have hundreds and thousands of light fighters for every cruiser and battleship and Dreadnaught they are there to absorb rapid fire small weapons with their itty bitty shields and hull while the battleships take the plasma cannon and railgun hits.
They are cheap and expandable and easier to replace and build than battleships and carriers.
in the pacific theater medics were part of the u.s. navy corpsman formation in support of the marines. they were dressed up like army medics during the tarawa campaign but with a much smaller "cross" insignia on their helmets. after tarawa their uniforms (and helmet camouflage) were more like the marines with no "cross" insignia.Without the medic on the battlefield, injured soldiers did not have someone to treat their wounds.
