Wonder who'd want to pay $596 to get tab + ST app when you can get tab for $398?
Sorry way to bump up circulation numbers with these tabs to hold on to advertisers. Both circulation and readership have fallen sharply. There are so many avenues to get credible news free! That's the problem when you have an ex civil servant running the media division. He doesn't realise it's not the hardware, but the content that's the problem.
It's oversubscribed because SPH set a low bar of only 3000 units. Fact that it used one of its own staff to endorse it only goes to show the low level confidence...
NYC is only tip of the problem...the entire organisation is in disarray from the CEO to his Dy CEO, an ex civil servant, to CCO, CFO, CTO, CPO and all the other Os. They all carry high payroll but have no clue on how to do business. So, the Dy CEO pushes for investment in old aged homes just because he was formerly from Health Ministry. Another senior person pushes for student dormitories in the UK, which analysts said were bought at a high price in a matured market. What these multimillion dollar investments have to do with core media business, no one knows or can give a coherent reply. Their contributions to bottom line yet to be convincing. They are expensive band aids to cure a haemorrhage. There will be more red numbers and retrenchment as long as the present leadership is around.Seems to me some SPH employees are lurking here and desperately promoting their shitty company's products.
My advice: better start looking for another job, things will get even worse for SPH, especially when Kim Jong Ng is still its CEO.

UNSOLD ALBUMS
Her apparent success in the Mandarin-speaking market also turned out to be unfounded as church members had to fork out $500,000 to buy 32,500 of her unsold albums.
Two of her Mandarin albums made losses of almost $1 million, the court heard.
Really feel bad for Samsung, shackled to a deal with a loser company like SPH.
It will lose quite a bit of money.
Nobody cares about Android tablets. The manufacturers are losing huge money on them.
Get an iPad. Even the MOE is procuring iPads for the brats in school.
